ADDITIONAL INFO:
TWM designed this new, multi-level, state-of-the-art seating pavilion, centered on the existing stage and backdrop, for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon. The 1200-seat open-air Elizabethan Theatre is enclosed by 12’ high reinforced concrete wall, built in the 1890’s for Chautauqua performances. A partial enclosure was designed to exclude off-site noise, enhance acoustics within the audience area, and provide technical galleries for stage lighting. The design intent has been to achieve acoustic isolation with minimum impact on the existing Chautauqua wall and stagehouse, and with a minimum sense of enclosure.
